Sloan Asakura (she/he/they) is a poet and memoirist from Los Angeles. 

They’re a ‘22 Periplus Fellow, a ‘23 Tin House Resident, and upcoming ‘25 Tin House Scholar, and ‘26 Candidate for an MFA in Literary Arts at Brown University. 

They are the winner of the 2024 CRAFT Memoir Excerpt Prize, forthcoming in June 2025.

Their writing is informed by conversations with trees, meditations on lineage and grief, and contemplations forward into radical joy. Their poems and lyric essays have been published in various literary magazines including Rigorous, Rogue Agent, The Lantern Review, Zone 3, Joyland, Tupelo Quarterly, and more.
